1. Introducton:
My Personal Health Record ("myPHR") is a
not-for-profit association that provides an online health information and records storage
service.

Using the latest technology myPHR allows participating medical
personnel to respond to a patient's needs more effectively
because pertinent information is immediately available when and
where it is needed.
The idea for myPHR came from first reponders who saw first hand
how such as service could be used every day. Such a
service could allow emergency personnel to respond to a
patient's needs more effectively, would help with diagnosis and
treatment, and also save lives.
myPHR allows pertinent information to be immediately available
to emergency personnel when and where it is needed and thus
better meet the needs of patients.
myPHR allows medical personnel immediate access to a member's
concise medical history, current medications, allergies, the
names and telephone numbers of family or friends, and other
information necessary for medical treatment decisions.
Emergency personnel have often experienced situations where the
patient can't give vital health information in a timely manner
during an emergency, when every second counts. Many times
patients can't think straight during an emergency and can't
remember all vital information or may even be unable to give any
information at all!
